In order to promote international business education, research, and faculty scholarship, the School of Business established the Center for International Business (CIB) in 1993. Since its inception, the CIB has forged alliances with a network of universities and business schools around the world, and has planned and successfully implemented ten major international conferences. These have been held in China, India, Slovakia, Thailand, Mexico, S. Korea and Japan. They have grown in size and complexity; grown in terms of the number of partner institutions; and grown in terms of the number of attendees and papers submitted. It became apparent to the CIB and the conference coordinators that that a change was needed in the structure and delivery of the programs. Hence, CIB and the Board members of the conference series met at our 9th International Conference which was set in Seoul in 2005. At that time we decided to manage the CIB sponsored international conferences and publications under the banner of the Society for Global Business & Economic Development (SGBED). The secretariat of the Society will be housed at the CIB at Montclair State University and managed by a Board of Governors and its President & Executive Secretary Dr. C. Jayachandran.
By working together, the CIB and the SGBED developed a collaborative approach to enlist the support of academic institutions, business and government entities worldwide and strive to deliver to maintain acceptable levels of quality and standards of research and peer reviewed publications. In order to facilitate this, the School of Business at Montclair State University provides the needed support to the CIB and the SGBED in terms of physical facilities, website development and maintenance, faculty and a graduate assistant.
